The one-page brief becomes a working thing

In one hour, on a free Replit account with nothing installed, one task that gets written down twice becomes a page with a form that writes to a table, and you can say the four ways it breaks.

Before you start

None. A browser and a task you are tired of typing twice.

What you leave with

One page, one form, one table, a list of what landed. Built by Replit Agent from a one-page brief you write in ten minutes. No login, no payments, no second page.

The exercise

  1. Open the one-page brief prompt and answer the questions: the one task that gets typed twice, who fills it in, the three to six fields, who runs it after you. Ten minutes. Copy it.
  2. Go to replit.com, make a free account (nothing to install), start a new project with Agent, and paste the brief. Let it build. Answer its questions only with what is on your page; if it offers more, say no.
  3. When it says it is done, read the four things it was told to report: what it built that you did not ask for, what it changed, the three ways it breaks and the fourth it found, and the steps for the next person.
  4. Send three real rows. Then break it on purpose: an empty form, the same row twice, a wrong date. Write down what happened each time in one line.
  5. Hand the URL to somebody else and say nothing. Watch where they stop. That is the handover test, and it is the whole point.
  6. Post the URL in #courses with the fourth way it breaks. Bring the task to Friday at noon, or to the workshop on the 24th, where the room builds one with you.
Where it breaks, on purpose

The second person. It works for you because you wrote the brief. The test is handing the URL to somebody who did not, saying nothing, and watching where they stop.

The checkpoint. A post in #courses: the URL of a working page (a form that writes to a table), the fourth way it breaks, and one line on where the second person stopped. Nobody grades it.

Do it with somebody

Pair up: swap URLs, send one row into each other's page without asking a single question, and post where you stopped. The stop is the handover gap, and a stranger finds it faster than the builder.

The door out of this unit

The One Task workshop on September 24 builds this with a paying room; the free Friday session is where you bring the task first.
